Thank you for visiting this site, designed for those who wish to explore and learn about 21st century conscious sexuality.
As for me, for most of my adult life, I’ve dedicated myself to questions about how we can reunite our sexual and spiritual selves. It began in my late twenties, almost thirty years ago, in Amsterdam, when I began to explore sexual energy and at the same time was initiated into a mystical path.
In the late '80's, meeting pioneers like Annie Sprinkle, Joseph Kramer and Betty Dodson gave me tools to explore sexual energy in my own body and with clients. At the same time, my initiation in the Sufi path, provided a training into the inner world of mind-heart and soul. To my surprise, I discovered that both practices brought me to similar states of expanded awareness.
Over time, a paradigm has emerged which I call Full Spectrum Sex, resulting in a book that helps to redefine sexuality and spirituality, while serving as a practical guide in the complexity of sexual relating (click on the image to the left to purchase). Most of us learned to associate sex only with genital stimulation, which can certainly be wonderful. But we miss out on so much of our potential if we only go “down there” when we want sex. Full Spectrum Sex, opens up sexuality to integrate all human expressions of relating, such as lust and love, creativity and inspiration, power and prayer.
In the US, I was co-founder of XOX, a pioneering women's sexuality group in Albuquerque, NM and became the first female teacher for the Body Electric School in Oakland, CA. I have facilitated individuals, couples and groups for the Body Electric School, Flesh@Spirit, the International Institute of Sexological Bodywork, Switzerland and in private practice. Currently I work as a Certified Somatic Sex Educator, which means that in sessions we use talk, or hands-on work, or both, for the purpose of learning, awareness and healing; I’ve been a Certified Massage Therapist since the mid 80’s, finding that the body holds crucial information and wisdom, which longs to be in alignment with our story-making mind; I use the Coaching model, which focuses on changes you wish to make for your life to come, rather than what happened in the past, though we certainly acknowledge that too. I'm greatly influenced by body based trauma work and Process Work, a model for internal and external conflict resolution.
Also, for me, in a world in which sex and love are still often misused for power and violation, redefining sexuality is one of the more radical spiritual and political acts we can take--- as a healing and integration of these aspects, a way to know and respect our Self and our body-heart-mind-soul, as a starting point and practice ground to know and respect 'Other,' of opening up to life in a most profound way. This includes the use of 'the feminine' and 'the masculine' forces within our own body and expressions in ways that goes beyond the traditional boxes of 'woman - man.'
